ExperienceI am a qualified English teacher with experience as a private tutor across multiple levels and ages. I have taught beginners who have only started to be exposed to the language, as well as advanced speakers who want to polish their English for work. My students have included those from the ages of 3 to 40, from many backgrounds and experiences.
I prefer the immersion method, in which the classes are done entirely in English, and am otherwise completely flexible in terms of structure and style. Whatever your needs or requirements, I can try and match them.
In addition to private tutoring with my own business, I work as a relief teacher at a number of adult colleges in the Gothenburg regionand part-time with Berlitz International.
Before moving to Sweden I completed a certificate in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages. I followed this by volunteering with the State Government program that provides tutoring in English for recent immigrants to Australia. This covered English practice as well as the customs and laws of Australia.
When not teaching I volunteer at the English conversation groups held by the International Women’s Group, where I am also on the committee and am the newsletter editor. I have edited a number of different newsletters and bulletins and have experience in proofreading and editing, including with PhDs and other documents.
I have also completed SAS3 and so have conversational Swedish, and a good understanding of written Swedish.
HobbiesIn my spare time I write, go for runs in the forest, cycle, bake, play violin, travel, practice Swedish and meet with friends.
I have a website for my teaching business, VIA Language Services, here:
