If you want to study accounting with me, I can teach you about the accruals concept and how it is important to record revenue when it becomes receivable and expenses should be recorded once they have been recognized as payable, even if the actual cash hasn't changed hands yet. Or we can go over the conservatism concept, which states basically that as soon as you have any liabilities or expenses, they should be recorded immediately, whereas with revenues or assets you should only record them when they are certain to be received.
